A Very Frightening Discovery

Allex Michael: Was brushing Ebbey the Canine Actor's teeth and discovered one of her problem teeth had cracked right in half. She was found starving in a garbage dump, and arrived with some injuries including a couple bad teeth.

Anyone who may need surgery for their pet may find this photo article of some value. there is information on anesthesia etc.

Deer Hunter

Love to chase those deer.

Allex Michael: Saw a deer last night, munching grass in the park. Walking with the Rottweiler, Ebbey immediately did a spinning bark alert. I gave a sharp harsh no. Despite my reprimand, the Rotti gave a good bark and got a smack with my empty glove. Generally, when there is any kind of prey, neither dog pays any attention to me. Tonight, I got lucky and they both listened. Then we stood there quietly for a few seconds and watched the doe forage.

When Ebbey was first adopted, she chased several deer with a dog we were walking with. I started to run after the dogs, but could not keep them in my sight. After the other dog came back, I was pretty certain I'd lost Ebbey for good. Then several long minutes later, Ebbey returned unharmed. Deers can kill a dog, so I try to discourage this behavior.

Sneaky Bunnies

Hiding in trees roots, by the door, but I found him.

Allex Michael: A snowshoe hare decided to hide right by the front entrance as the dogs and I returned home from a walk. Like a good bunny, he remained motionless until Ebbey caught his scent. As Ebbey lunged towards the hare, the Rotti joined in on the chase. Luckily a stand of trees slowed down the dogs and allowed the hare to escape.

Scrawny Injured Coyotes

Must warn off all coyotes, no matter what their condition.

Ebbey saw several coyotes along the highway. The last one was limping badly and didn't look long for the world.

A Bunny a Day, Means More to Chase

Saw a coyote, bark attacked and several hidden bunnies started running.

Spotting a coyote, Ebbey's coyote bark warning's ended up saving a few dumb urban hares. Likely this springs innexperienced babies.

Ebbey and Hiking:

I tolerate the long drive, as long as there's a nice walk with lots of critters to track.

Allex Michael: We often eat canned salmon on hiking trips, because it doesn't spoil. Ebbey is a bit allergic to it, but bags of cooked beef or bison are impossible to take without refrigeration. Ebbey's usually very tired after a hike, so though her ear wax production increases, she's usually not itchy and scratchy. I wouldn't continue with the salmon for more than a few meals to avoid aggravating her allergies.
